Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) has been a science and technology university
with an outstanding research record since 1855.

ETH Zurich is the study, research and work place of 18,000 people from 80 nations (25% of which are women). About 350 professors in 15 departments teach to about 13,000 students (3,000 of which are Ph.D. students) mainly in the engineering sciences and architecture, system-oriented sciences, athematics and natural sciences areas, and carry out research that is highly valued worldwide. Twenty-one Nobel Laureates are connected with ETH Zurich. Maintaining and developing its top standing in the international competition among top universities is an important task of ETH Zurich. Current annual expenditure of ETH has reached 700 M€. ETH is a member of CO2NET and CO2NET2, the specialised Thematic Network sponsored by the EC under FP5 and FP6.
